The creation and culmination of Kelders van Geheime – e.tv's new and first Afrikaans drama series scheduled in the 18:00 timeslot where 7de Laan used to be on SABC2 – is a full-circle moment for e.tv's head of local programming, who had her start in 7de Laan and wanted to create something for e.tv to give programming back to Afrikaans viewers.

Vuyelwa Booi, e.tv's head of local programming and who played the role of Alice on 7de Laan for many years as her first big break into South Africa's TV industry, says e.tv spotted the gap in the market left by the SABC due to the cancellation of 7de Laan.
