A new decade has dawned. Not only for us mere mortals but also in the Formula 1 fraternity.
It’s been an epic decade that not only saw significant changes to the regulations but it also saw drivers and teams come and go.
Fans of the sport were fortunate to watch how young drivers grew into great talents. Lucky to see how teams who were nowhere suddenly stepped up to the plate, and vice versa.
But in it all, the ultimate goal was always to score maximum points and in so doing become champions. Whether it was a team or driver, the aim never changed, and the goal to be the winner is everyone’s target.
But which team scored the most points this past decade? And just how many points did they score?

Most successful team
Between 2010 and 2013, Red Bull Racing ran rampant in F1. They’ve won the most number of races and also scored the most amount of points. But in 2014, with the advent of the hybrid era, it was Mercedes who turned the tables. And did they turn it!
Between 2014 and 2019 - six epic seasons - the team has scored an impressive 5112 points! Not only that, but they’ve also won more than half the races in this time! Mercedes’ showing the last six years has made them perhaps the most dominant team in the history of the sport, and 2020 might be a continuation of that.

Red Bull, thanks to the dominance in the early part of the decade, score 4468 points, followed by the near-miss team, Ferrari. The Italian team scored 4164 points, but have no championships to show for their efforts. Sad because the team came so close on numerous occasions to snatch the championship away from both Red Bull and Mercedes.
McLaren scored 1972 points, and Racing Point (formerly Force India) 1099 points.
Most successful driver
One guess as to which driver scored the most points between 2010 and 2019. Answer? Of course, it’s Lewis Hamilton.
Here is a driver who, between 2010 and 2012, had a dog-old time at McLaren-Mercedes. Driving an uncompetitive car, the British driver at least managed to win at least one race per season. In 2013, in a completely unexpected move, he switched to the Mercedes team. While the team guaranteed him at least one victory, they promised him the title in 2014. And they did not disappoint.
Bar 2016. Hamilton has won every championship since 2014 and is the man touted to do it again in 2020. He’s won more races than any other driver in the hybrid era (more than 50% of all races), and leads the points table on 3175 points.

Sebastian Vettel, the four-time world champion, won all of his titles with Red Bull Racing between 2010 and 2013. Though he is yet to taste championship glory again, he has scored an impressive 2860 points this past decade.
Nico Rosberg retired after winning the 2016 championship and ended his career on 1519 points. Fernando Alonso scored 1322 points, the majority of which came during his tenure at Ferrari. After switching to McLaren in 2015, the Spanish driver only featured in the points periodically.
Valtteri Bottas scored 1289 points, and Kimi Raikkonen 1280 points.
